On August 4th, Mr. Tommy Toàn (full name Đỗ Thanh Toàn, 37 years old, from Cát Khánh commune, Phù Cát district, Bình Định) confirmed that he encountered a pod of about 7 blue whales moving and feeding in the Đề Gi sea area, approximately 1 nautical mile from the shore.
According to Mr. Toàn, he sighted the pod of whales around 5 to 6 AM on the same day (August 4th). At that time, the whales were swimming gracefully, with their mouths wide open breaching the surface of the sea…

The pod consisted of about 7 whales, with the smaller ones weighing around 1 to 2 tons, and the larger ones weighing between 17 to 20 tons, appearing for about 2 hours. Occasionally, the whales would breach with their mouths wide open. Tommy Toàn recounted.
Earlier, on July 26, while introducing tourists to the coastal area near Vũng Bồi, Hòn Trâu (part of Đề Gi), Mr. Toàn discovered 2 blue whales feeding. According to Mr. Toàn, it is possible that since then, the pod of blue whales has remained in this area to feed and has not left.
Local residents note that the appearance of whales near Đề Gi beach is a very rare sight in recent years. In a spiritual context, fishermen view the sighting of a whale pod as a very lucky event.
