The Fire Snail is the largest snail species found on the Peninsula, Malaysia.
Dogs and cats are among the most beloved animals chosen as pets in households. However, some people opt for more unusual pets, and snails are an interesting example.
Most of us know that snails are soft-bodied animals with a hard outer shell. Some species of snails are used as food, their secretions are utilized in beauty cosmetics, and their shells are crafted into decorations and jewelry. While most snails are small, certain species can grow up to 30 cm in size. The largest known species is the Giant African Snail, which inhabits Ghana.
However, few people are aware that this particular snail species is a popular choice for pets in Malaysia.

Snails are soft-bodied animals with a hard outer shell.
Like many other snail species, they move with the help of strong muscles and use secretions to glide over rough surfaces. They move slowly at an average speed of about 1 mm/s.
According to BP, Fire Snails are very difficult to keep in captivity because they thrive only in very cool and humid conditions. The humidity in Tanah Rata, Malaysia, is 79%. For the snails to grow, they require a good supply of calcium in their diet and environment.
