Russian Photographer Andrey Pavlov Captures Unique Ant Photography
Noticing that ants move along a specific path while working, Pavlov set up his props along their routes and captured how they interacted with the objects. “I chose ants because I admire them and their way of life. ‘Young’ ants always care for their offspring and look after the elder ants.“
Every summer, Pavlov relocates to a small house in the countryside to photograph forest ants in beautiful and whimsical settings reminiscent of fairy tales. He commented: “When I had children and began reading fairy tales to them, I realized that I had never read fairy tales as a child. I decided to ‘make up’ for it and started creating my own fairy tales.”
Pavlov does not use any digital effects in his photo series. To capture close-up shots of the ants at work, he employs a macro lens with a large magnification ratio.
