After nearly 4 months, yesterday, AMD declared victory in the dual-core showdown as the challenge deadline for Intel expired without any response from the world’s number one chip manufacturer.
“The silence in response to our challenge further demonstrates AMD’s leadership in dual-core technology“, affirmed Marty Seyer, Vice President of AMD’s Processor Solutions division.
Back in August, many major newspapers in the United States, such as The Wall Street Journal and USA Today, reported that AMD had invited Intel to bring their dual-core processors to the “arena” to determine who would claim the championship.
“A head-to-head competition based on technology standards would provide customers with the necessary information to know which company best meets their computing needs“, Seyer stated. “It’s time to put aside the exaggerated advertising and prove who truly leads in x86 processing technology“.
AMD even set up a website www.amd.com/duel to encourage their competitor to accept the challenge. Furthermore, the company compiled 10 reasons why Intel declined to participate.
