American Lawyer Brittany Lacayo Sets Guinness World Record for Largest Tongue
Brittany Lacayo, a lawyer from Houston, Texas, has earned the title of “the woman with the largest tongue in the world.” Her tongue is larger than a standard hockey puck and nearly as wide as a credit card.
In a recent post on their website, Guinness World Records announced that Lacayo’s tongue measures 7.9 cm at its widest point, which is approximately the average length of a woman’s tongue from the epiglottis to the tip.
Brittany Lacayo recognized as the woman with the largest tongue in the world.
Lacayo has known her tongue was special since childhood, as her family often teased her about it. Her tongue is wider than it is long, which causes a “shock” and “curiosity” reaction when people see it for the first time, Lacayo told Guinness World Records, an organization known for maintaining a database of around 40,000 world records.
Lacayo began to consider the possibility that her tongue was larger than anyone else’s after her best friend sent her a video of Emily Schlenker. Schlenker holds the previous record with a tongue measuring 7.33 cm and has held the title for “the woman with the largest tongue” for nearly a decade. Schlenker’s father, Byron, previously held the record for the largest tongue among men.
However, Lacayo had a feeling her tongue was larger than Schlenker’s. She submitted the necessary measurements to Guinness, and in February, the organization confirmed that Lacayo was the new record holder.
Previously, Lacayo had been quite discreet about her tongue, going so far as to ensure she never revealed it to her colleagues. However, once recognized for her record, the lawyer has become more open and willing to share.
“It’s amazing and a bit funny,” she shared after setting the world record.
