Joel Strasser, an American, adorned his beard with over 700 decorations as a unique way to embrace the festive spirit of Christmas.
Joel Strasser, hailing from Kuna, Idaho, set a world record on December 2 by attaching 710 decorations of various sizes, materials, and colors to his beard.

Joel and Guinness World Records documented the entire decoration process, sharing a video on the organization’s Instagram page.
According to Express, Joel spent over 2.5 hours attaching these decorations and an additional hour to remove them completely.
Joel estimates that the weight of the hundreds of decorations added more than 2 kg to his face.
“December 2019 was the first time I attached decorations to my beard, and it was also when I set my first record,” Joel shared. “Since then, I have continually broken my own record each Christmas.”
Guinness World Records describes Joel as a “serial world record breaker,” noting that he has also set other records, primarily concerning the number of items he decorates his beard with.
Some of Joel’s other world records include hanging 534 paper straws, 520 chopsticks, and 3,500 toothpicks from his beard.
Joel has achieved so many records that the Guinness World Records organization decided to feature a small caricature of him on the cover of the 2023 Guinness World Records Book.
Joel also plans to continue setting new records involving his beard. Just a few days ago, he posted a video on his personal Instagram account showing him attaching candy canes to his beard.
Joel’s beard records are quite different from some of the strangest records that people compete for at Guinness.
In 2021, some of the oddest records included the ability to balance the most spoons on a face, the farthest distance pulled by teeth using a table, and the world’s longest mustache.
