Seti Temple in Abydos, Egypt |
To this day, the peculiar carvings on the interior walls of the Seti Temple in Abydos, Egypt, discovered in 1848, remain a mystery. However, there is evidence suggesting that these may depict representations of aircraft or submarines.
There are various opinions regarding the aforementioned carvings. Egyptologist Alan Aford believes that the ancient Egyptians actually illustrated helicopter images. Others associate the wall sketches with images of… bees, as “Bee” is one of the names attributed to Pharaoh Seti I, one of the most famous kings of ancient Egypt. UFO expert Richard Hoagland asserts that these carvings support his theory: that ancient Egyptians are descendants of Martians and chose Egypt as a landing site because the landscape resembles that of the red planet. However, Hoagland fails to explain why there are images of submarines alongside helicopters on the walls, all intricately carved to a degree that is hard to believe.
Mars has no oceans, so “descendants of Martians” would find it difficult to create drawings of submarines without having the concept. Egyptologist Bruce Rowles argues that there has never been an exploration from another planet to Earth. According to him, ancient Egyptian priests knew certain secrets of nature and likely envisioned images of future aircraft and submarines. It can be seen that all these theories lack solid foundations, but one proven fact remains: 3,000 years ago, ancient Egyptians created the first battery capable of generating electricity in the world.

The mysterious carvings on the walls of Seti Temple |
However, scientific documents affirm that the ancient Egyptian aristocracy may have ascended into the skies using hot air balloons and primitive gliders. Historian William Deutch suggests that many royal family members, including Pharaoh Tutankhamun, died from fatal injuries due to accidents while… flying. Deutch even constructed flying devices modeled after the wall carvings and discovered many designs capable of gliding through the air. He claims these “aircraft” first appeared in Egypt, followed by Tibet, India, Mexico, and Turkey.
Physical evidence is also significant. To date, researchers have discovered 33 gold objects, each 4 cm long, found in Colombia, Peru, Costa Rica, and Venezuela, known as the “Colombian gold airplanes,” dating back no later than the first millennium BC. Their shapes vary, but they share the same principles of aircraft: they have stabilizing components in both horizontal and vertical orientations. Although designed to resemble animals with an outer layer of “scales” and lively eyes, biologists confirm they differ from any fossilized creature or animal that ever existed on Earth.
In 1956, the “golden airplanes” were displayed at the Pre-Columbian Gold Exhibition in New York, USA. The triangular wings and large vertical tail of these exhibits caught the attention of American aircraft designers. They tested these ancient “airplanes” in a wind tunnel. It turned out that one type of “golden airplane” could glide at supersonic speeds. This ancient “airplane” model helped Lockheed develop the best supersonic aircraft in the world at that time.
Thus, it is very likely that ancient Egyptians possessed flying objects in the air. But if this is true, we encounter another mystery that is equally difficult to unravel: how did they acquire that technology, and why was it not passed down to future generations?
