The World Health Organization (WHO) reported last weekend that the cholera outbreak in Angola, which began in mid-February, has claimed 1,200 lives and affected over 32,000 individuals.
In its latest report on cholera affecting 11 of Angola’s 18 provinces, the WHO indicated that there have been 32,634 confirmed cases, with a mortality rate of 4%.
In Luanda province, cholera has erupted in slum areas of the provincial capital 12 weeks ago and continues to worsen, with 232 deaths among 16,558 reported cases.
