Anna Konda – Firefighting Robot |
The movie “Anaconda – The Giant Snake” left a negative impression on viewers about the legendary “large” serpent of the Amazon rainforest. However, the Anna Konda Robot proves to be a significant aid to humanity.
In design, this is a snake-shaped robot, composed of segments, moving thanks to 20 hydraulic motors at the joints of the segments. This robot was developed by SINTEF from Norway. It measures 3 meters in length and weighs nearly 70 kg, equivalent to that of an adult anaconda.
To move, the motors can only operate under a water pressure of 100 bars (100 kg/m2) supplied by a tube running along the body of the “snake.” The motors are connected to the tube via valves. This design allows the “snake” to have enough power to climb stairs, lift vehicles off the ground, and even “break” through walls.
The design team is currently developing a system to enable remote control of the robot’s movements.
This robot can replace humans in many dangerous tasks such as firefighting, marine research, and preventing explosions. Water is crucial for this “Snake Robot” as it becomes inactive without it.
