AOL has recently launched a beta version of its comprehensive security service package – Total Care, which was announced earlier in June.
Total Care is a software package in the truest sense, as it integrates a variety of different feature sets, similar to existing services on the market offered by Microsoft (OneCare), Symantec (Norton 360), and McAfee (Falcon).
According to AOL spokesperson Andrew Weinstein, Total Care will include a firewall, antivirus software, anti-spyware (provided by McAfee), local backup and recovery tools (utilizing technology from Farstone Technology), and optimization and inspection features (from Iolo Technologies).
Additionally, Andrew Weinstein mentioned that the final version of Total Care, expected to be completed later this year, will be equipped with online backup capabilities, phishing protection, and identity theft prevention.
Total Care is AOL’s response to Microsoft’s OneCare service, which is currently available for purchase at a price of $49.95.
