On July 6, the Office of the Government announced: The Prime Minister has approved the project “Development of A/H5N1 Influenza Vaccine in Vietnam” with a total value of 975,000 USD.
The project is supported by a grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of the United States to the Vaccine and Biological Products No. 1 Company – Central Institute for Hygiene and Epidemiology (under the Ministry of Health).
The Prime Minister has also agreed in principle to implement the direct procurement of foot-and-mouth disease vaccine from China in 2006 to ensure the supply of vaccines for the prevention of foot-and-mouth disease in livestock.
The Prime Minister has assigned the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development to decide on the procurement of the vaccine in accordance with current regulations and to take full responsibility for their decision.
