This specially crafted firearm comes with a staggering price tag of $4.5 million.
Produced by Cabot Guns, a company specializing in firearms made from rare materials, these guns are designed after the M1911 and crafted from Namibia meteorite.
Experts believe the meteorite used to create this rare gun crashed into Earth about 1 million years ago, although the meteorite itself is estimated to be around 4 billion years old.
Cabot Guns assures that it functions like a regular firearm, “it can still fire if you want to shoot a few rounds.”
Since it is cut from a solid meteorite, the imperfections of the gun add to its unique beauty.
Previously, the founder and President of Cabot Guns, Rob Bianchin, shared: “We have never undertaken a project like this before, so it’s very exciting.”
Cabot is a firearms manufacturer established many years ago. Headquartered near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (USA), Cabot has previously crafted gun grips from a meteorite as old as the Earth and Bianchin now believes the company can produce a complete gun.
Most critical parts are made from meteorite.
Cabot Guns states that the pair of guns produced by them are usually one-of-a-kind.
Thus, they also come with a terrifying price tag of $4.5 million.
“Previously, we weren’t sure if we could achieve this, but now we believe that in the future we will be able to create a high-quality pistol from this material,” Rob Bianchin said. Owning a meteorite is “an incredible feeling”, but Bianchin admits that creating a gun from meteorite is very challenging.
Currently, no one dares to spend such a huge amount to own this special gun.
Rob Bianchin compares cutting meteorite to cutting a rare diamond. Public opinion suggests that only billionaires like Warren Buffett and Bill Gates could afford to buy such a “toy,” but whether they find it necessary is another story.
