No Card or PIN Required: Just Use Your Finger on the Screen to Withdraw Cash from ATMs
Currently, Colombia and Chile are among the few countries in the world where banks are implementing biometric fingerprint technology to verify customer identity when conducting transactions at ATMs. Compared to traditional cash withdrawal systems that rely on cards and PIN codes, biometric ATMs offer enhanced security by eliminating the risks associated with card cloning or PIN theft.
Last year, Suruga Bank in Japan introduced ATMs that allow customers to access their accounts by placing their palms in front of a scanner that recognizes their unique vascular patterns. Meanwhile, 350 banks in North America are utilizing palm recognition systems that enable customers to open their personal safes. To access their safes, users simply place their hands on the screen, allowing the machine to check the width of their palms, the length of their fingers, and other distinct features of their hands.
