SurfControl Security Company Warns Users About Fake Google Emails Spreading Malware
Recently, SurfControl, a security firm, has issued a warning to users about a security threat disguised as fake Google emails that are spreading malware.
These emails are impersonating “Team Google” and announce the launch of a service called Google Pharmacy.
When users click on the links in these emails, they are redirected to an online pharmacy website. However, in reality, this website contains two types of malware ready to “parachute” into the user’s system.
SurfControl reports that the email uses a Google redirection tool to hide the dangerous website.
The technique of encoding the path is also applied here to help make the malicious website “invisible,” along with a frame displaying an advertisement banner for Google Pharmacy.
