Two male buffaloes charging at each other fiercely.
The battle between the two buffaloes took place at Renosterkoppies in Kruger National Park, South Africa, and was captured by wildlife photographer and filmmaker Steve Dover.
This clash is a fight for the males to gain mating rights with females and territory for grazing. This drives them to be willing to shed blood to determine the victor.
In the clip, the two male buffaloes charge at each other with great ferocity. After a fierce struggle, one of the buffaloes was knocked to the ground by its opponent and rolled over several times. When it got back up, it quickly fled, realizing it had lost the battle.
African buffalo is one of the largest and most common herbivores in Africa. They inhabit swamps and wetlands, as well as grasslands where mopane trees grow or dense forests in mountainous regions.
African buffaloes are known to be very fierce and aggressive animals, capable of running at speeds of 50–60 km/h. With adult weights ranging from 500 kg to 1 ton, they are likened to a solid tank able to toss aside any enemy. Their curved horns and large hump on their heads also serve as formidable weapons, providing them with added safety when facing predators.
Their rough and unpredictable temperament makes them particularly dangerous. If angered, buffaloes are ready to confront even large predators like lions.
