Chased by a predator, a wildebeest charged directly into the side of a lion, forcing it to flee. The clip was recorded in Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya.
Specifically, a female lion lay in ambush by the Mara River to hunt wildebeests crossing the river. However, the target it chose was not an easy one. When pursued by the predator, one wildebeest from the herd exhibited an incredible action.
Instead of continuing to run away, the wildebeest unexpectedly charged fiercely into the lion’s side and then aggressively pursued it. As a result, the lion had to give up and quickly retreat.
The wildebeest is a remarkable animal, characterized by its unusual shape, which combines the head and horns of a cow with the tail of a horse, highlighted by a tuft of long black hair.
An adult wildebeest typically measures about 170 cm to 220 cm in length, stands approximately 105 cm to 121 cm tall, and weighs between 110 kg and 180 kg. They are herbivorous animals found exclusively in Africa, with the majority residing in Kenya, while others are distributed across Namibia and other countries.
Wildebeests usually live in large herds, and in many cases, they even associate with zebra herds to form a strong community, thereby reducing the risk of being hunted by predators.
According to zoological studies, the survival rate from birth to adulthood for wildebeests is very low. However, in reality, wildebeests are not easy opponents to defeat.
