The bicycle features a tank-like chain design, allowing it to move forward, although it is somewhat difficult to steer and navigate on uneven terrain.

Ukrainian engineer, Sergii Gordieiev, creator of the YouTube channel “The Q,” has developed an innovative bicycle design that moves using a chain instead of traditional round wheels, as reported by Interesting Engineering on June 28. Gordieiev has spent years inventing unique bicycle designs that challenge people’s perceptions of everyday objects. His creativity and skill demonstrate that even the most ordinary items can be transformed into something extraordinary.
With an efficient chain loop, the bicycle’s propulsion system includes a drive belt positioned at an unusual angle relative to a standard bicycle frame. The bicycle operates when the rider pedals, causing the chain to move and propel the machine forward, similar to a conventional bicycle.
This design is also difficult to ride on rugged terrain.
To create the wheel-less bicycle, Gordieiev sourced a frame without wheels. Instead of adding traditional circular wheels, he utilized a long metal frame to create an axle, attaching gears and a chain loop, and then added a tire casing to form a component resembling a tank tread. To connect the pedals with the chain loop, Gordieiev added another chain to the frame, linking the pedals to the top of the rear axle. The front and rear axles are secured at two points to maintain a sharp angle while riding.
Once completed, Gordieiev took the contraption outside for a test run. While moving forward seemed relatively smooth, he quickly encountered several issues due to design flaws. For instance, it appeared that Gordieiev had difficulty steering the bicycle. This design was also challenging to navigate over rugged terrain or common obstacles that cyclists often face, such as potholes or road ditches. Nonetheless, Gordieiev emphasized that this tank-inspired bicycle is merely a fun project.
