This center will also serve as a research facility for biological behaviors and issues related to primates, contributing to conservation efforts and aiding in the breeding of rare primate species in semi-natural conditions; it will enhance the management capacity of the center’s staff.
The project to establish the Endangered Primate Rescue Center at Cat Tien National Park is managed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, with funding of over half a million USD and technical support from the Monkey World – Ape Rescue Center in the United Kingdom and the Pingtung Wildlife Rescue Center in Taiwan.
The project will include a comprehensive planning of functional subdivisions such as: a general administration area, a veterinary zone, a quarantine area, a training and rehabilitation facility, a breeding area in a natural environment, a food processing area, and a food storage warehouse. This center is expected to be completed by the end of 2008.
