The first international center for physics and mathematics in South America will be established in Argentina and is set to begin operations in 2006, according to a report from an Argentine government official on December 24.
Fidel Schaposnik, a researcher from the National University of La Plata, will serve as the director of this center. The center will receive financial support from various South American countries.
The establishment of this center is part of the activities commemorating the International Year of Physics 2005, marking the 100th anniversary of the Theory of Relativity and the 50th anniversary of the passing of scientist Albert Einstein.
