The newspaper from Mainichi Shimbun is made from a mixture of recycled paper blended with small flower seeds. When adequately watered, the seeds embedded in the newspaper will germinate, develop into seedlings, and take root in the underlying soil.
This invention has earned Mainichi Shimbun the title of “green newspaper.” Thanks to its innovative design, this eco-friendly newspaper has achieved great success with over 4 million copies published daily.
