Just as he was about to celebrate the discovery of a valuable black pearl in his food, the man was saddened to find that the pearl was damaged, significantly decreasing its value.
According to reports, a Korean YouTuber named Kim, who frequently shares seafood eating videos, recently posted a video featuring red mussels that captured widespread attention.
In the video, Kim can be seen purchasing a large quantity of fresh red mussels to cook. Unexpectedly, when he was about to eat, he discovered a round, gray-black object with a dull sheen on the flesh of one of the red mussels.
At first, Kim was unsure of what it was, so he took a picture and started to remove the object. After careful observation for a while, he realized that the gray-black sphere might be a pearl.

Immediately, Kim searched for related information online and learned that cultured black pearls tend to be shiny and black, while natural black pearls usually have a grayish texture. Based on this criteria, Kim’s pearl had a shiny color, smooth surface, and an excellent size.
Extremely excited about this discovery, Kim scoured for more information and eventually found a report from 1987 stating that someone had found black pearls in red mussels, estimated to be worth up to 50 million won (approximately 898 million VND) at that time.
Thinking he was about to make a fortune, Kim’s dreams quickly faded as, just a few days later, the black pearl shrank and wrinkled like a dried raisin.
“I heard that boiling pearls makes them go bad, but I brought the red mussels home to eat, so of course I had to cook them. I originally thought I would make a lot of money selling the black pearl, but it turns out it was all just a wild goose chase,” Kim shared disappointingly.
