Cambodian Prime Minister, Mr. Hunsen, has ordered a nationwide ban on the use of 3G phones after his wife and many of their friends complained about receiving excessive pornographic content through their 3G devices.

Yesterday, during a meeting with the Buddhist clergy in Phnom Penh, Mr. Hunsen stated that he had sent a directive to the Minister of Communications requesting the cessation of all distribution and use of 3G phones in the country. He remarked, “We can wait 10 years until we can manage the complex issues caused by 3G phones.”
Mr. Hunsen noted that his wife had submitted a petition against the widespread use of this new generation of phones, which the citizens have exploited to disseminate pornographic images and videos in a Buddhist nation.
The first 3G mobile network service in Cambodia was officially launched in early 2006, but in reality, only a small portion of the Cambodian population can afford to use this advanced mobile service.
