While fishing at the lake, a male angler unexpectedly caught a 40-year-old Koi fish, surprising many with its weight.
It is rare to catch a fish older than oneself, but that is exactly what happened when Kyle B. landed a remarkable Koi fish from Linear Fisheries in Oxfordshire, England.
The 10kg Koi fish that Kyle caught.
According to Angling Times, while fishing at St. John’s Lake, Kyle decided to move towards an area where he and a friend had spotted some fish swimming. They baited that area, and shortly after, a fish took the bait.
Kyle recounted: “I pulled up a fish, and it started exhibiting unusual behavior, with short tugs followed by nothing. It didn’t take long to get it into the net, and when I looked in, I knew it was something special.
I had no idea there was a Koi fish like that in St. John’s, and I later learned it could be as old as me or even older. The fish weighed 10kg and is one of the most memorable catches I’ve ever made.”
It is reported that this Koi fish is among the oldest in the area, with an age of at least 35 to 40 years.
