A Goat with Half-Meter Long Ears Causes a Sensation in Pakistan, Becoming a Local Celebrity.
The kid named Simba, meaning lion in Swahili, was born on a farm in Karachi, Pakistan. From the moment he was born, this goat has become a local sensation.
Unlike other goats, Simba has extremely long ears that can drag on the ground as he walks.
Simba’s super long ears are the result of a genetic mutation or disorder.
Reportedly, when Simba was born, his ears were already half a meter long. They resemble the ears of Dumbo, the famous cartoon elephant. Dumbo’s large ears helped him fly after some training.
Muhammad Hassan Narejo, the owner of the goat farm, stated: “This is a special goat; nothing like this has ever happened on my farm. We hope Simba will soon be recognized in the Guinness World Records.“
Simba and his owner seem to share a special bond. Muhammad Hassan Narejo takes great care of Simba, personally feeding him milk and patiently helping him take steps, as his unusual appearance makes it difficult for him to walk normally. Sometimes, Muhammad Hassan Narejo has to find ways to prevent Simba’s long ears from getting tangled in the wind.
Experts say that Simba’s super long ears are the result of a genetic mutation or disorder. Fortunately, the goat does not face many difficulties and has learned to live comfortably with his rare appearance.
Muhammad Hassan Narejo is preparing to submit an application to the Guinness World Records organization to ensure that the goat with the super long ears is recognized.
Currently, no goat holds the Guinness World Record for the longest ears, but a dog does hold a similar title. Lou, a 3-year-old dog, has officially made it into the record books for having the longest ears in the world at 34 cm. The dog is a black and tan hound belonging to a woman from Oregon, USA.
Goat farming is a very popular business in Pakistan, partly because the environment in the country is suitable for goats to thrive.
The ears of goats serve a very important purpose in extreme temperature conditions like those in Pakistan. In summer, daytime temperatures can reach up to 47 degrees Celsius. The ears help them regulate their body temperature and prevent overheating.
