In the wild, the leopard is a comprehensive predator, possessing speed, cunning, and strength to overpower its enemies. However, it is not always easy for a leopard to take down its prey.
In the video shared above, it is evident that the leopard faced significant challenges when confronting a wild boar in an attempt to secure its first meal of the day.
Stephanie McClendon, who recorded the video, mentioned that the leopard stealthily approached from behind the wild boar and lunged at it before the prey even noticed.
“The leopard bit down hard on the prey’s throat and tried to create a deadly grip,” McClendon recounted. “However, this was one of the most stubborn wild boars I have ever seen. It refused to give up easily.”
According to witnesses, the boar was attacked near a mound only about 2 meters away from its den. While the leopard attempted to drag the prey away, the boar used all its strength to move towards the entrance of its burrow, trying to escape.
“Clearly, the boar somehow maintained its composure and knew that the best course of action was to head home,” McClendon stated. “At first, I thought the wild boar would soon give in, as it had been bitten on the throat. But this animal was truly unbelievable.”

Despite the intense struggle, the wild boar showed no signs of exhaustion. It even overpowered the leopard in this mental battle, pulling the enemy back towards its den.
Realizing it was in a “losing position,” the leopard tried to spread its back legs wide and anchor them in the sand like an anchor, using all its strength to hold the prey in place.
However, with its extraordinary strength, the wild boar managed to push half of its body into the den, making it extremely difficult for the leopard to adjust.
At this point, the battle was essentially over, and the leopard understood this. Reluctantly, it released the prey, allowing the fortunate wild boar to retreat safely into its den.
After the incident, the leopard still couldn’t leave, sitting there as if in disbelief that it had been defeated.
