Having been in service for many years, the bridge has undergone several repairs to ensure safety and increase its load capacity.
When was Phong Chau Bridge built?
Phong Chau Bridge (Phu Tho) was inaugurated on July 28, 1995. In 2013, the bridge underwent repairs. By September 2019, Phu Tho issued a ban on vehicles weighing 18 tons or more from crossing this bridge.
Phong Chau Bridge Collapse: What Routes Should Residents Take?
On September 9, the Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) reported that due to the impact of Typhoon No. 3 (Typhoon Yagi), around 10 AM on the same day, Phong Chau Bridge (Km18+300, National Route 32C) collapsed. The police of Phu Tho Province announced that residents of districts within the province and neighboring provinces could choose alternative routes to replace the route through Phong Chau Bridge as follows:
Route One: Vehicles traveling from Tam Nong District to Lam Thao and Viet Tri can take the following route: National Route 32 (Tam Nong) → Ho Chi Minh Road → cross Ngoc Thap Bridge or via National Route 2 → head to Lam Thao and Viet Tri.
Alternatively, National Route 32 (Tam Nong) → Trung Ha Bridge → Hanoi → Van Lang Bridge → Viet Tri, Lam Thao. Vehicles from other directions through Lam Thao District to Tam Nong can follow the reverse route.
Route Two: Vehicles traveling from Tam Nong District to Hanoi and Vinh Phuc can take the following route: National Route 32 (Tam Nong) → Trung Ha Bridge or Dong Quang Bridge → head to Hanoi, Vinh Phuc.
Alternatively, via National Route 2 and the Noi Bai – Lao Cai Expressway to Hanoi, Vinh Phuc.
