There are numerous reasons for sweating in the feet, with several primary causes: Some individuals have a genetic predisposition to excessive foot sweating due to more active sweat glands. Others may have highly sensitive nerves in their foot sweat glands, which can trigger sweating during activities like walking or running. Even stress or excitement can cause these nerves to become highly stimulated, resulting in excessive sweating from the feet.
What can be done to reduce excessive foot sweating? Individuals who experience excessive foot sweating can try the following methods to decrease sweat production: Apply a 5% alum solution, a 3-5% formaldehyde solution, or a 0.5% acetic acid solution to the areas where sweating is most pronounced. Alternatively, medications such as probanthine or atropine can be crushed into powder and applied to the sweaty areas. These methods may help absorb the sweat from the feet.
