According to a study conducted by New Zealand scientists published on July 28, soldiers from this country suffered genetic damage due to exposure to Agent Orange during their time in Vietnam in the 1960s.
The research results from Massey University indicate that 25 veterans have experienced significant changes in their genetic structure compared to other veterans who did not serve in the Vietnam War, leading to genetic impacts on their children and grandchildren.
Observers believe that these conclusions will aid activists in their efforts to sue chemical companies that produced Agent Orange and the U.S. government. The Green Party of New Zealand stated that the research findings demonstrate the need for the government to reconsider its stance on compensation for veterans who served in Vietnam.
