Siemens has just introduced a thin, flexible color display that can be printed on paper, cardboard, or integrated into books, magazines, labels, tickets, and more.
Moreover, this display is particularly effective in scenarios that require clear and specific messaging, such as dosage instructions for medications and setup guides.
Siemens stated that the mini display utilizes electrochromic materials, which change color when an electric current passes through, emitting different wavelengths of light compared to their initial state.
When this new technology hits the market in 2007, it will significantly enhance the convergence of various audio-visual formats. Video screens can be embedded in product packaging, advertising, and printed editions of magazines and books, equipping them with multimedia capabilities.
Siemens’ chosen partners are also in the process of integrating the displays into their production lines. Although the pricing has not yet been disclosed, Siemens assures that the product will not be overly expensive.
