Scholars from Tsinghua University (China) have decoded 5 documents inscribed on bamboo slips that date back over 2,000 years to the Warring States period.
At a press conference in Beijing on December 10, experts revealed that there are two documents concerning rituals, which are the first records of pre-Qin rituals (before 221 BC) documented on bamboo slips from the Warring States period (475-221 BC) that have been excavated.
Currently, the Research and Preservation Center at Tsinghua University houses nearly 2,500 valuable bamboo slips from the Warring States period.
The research team has been comparing and studying these ancient documents since 2008 and has published research findings annually since 2011.
This year’s research focuses on documents related to the feasting rituals of royalty as well as music and literature.
