On April 27, China successfully launched a research satellite into orbit, marking its first satellite launch of the year. This accomplishment also serves as a celebration of the 50th anniversary of China’s space program.
At 6:48 AM today, China launched a research satellite named Long March 4-B, which was carried into orbit by a rocket from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center.
The 2.7-ton research satellite will be used for scientific experiments, land resource surveys, crop assessments, and disaster prevention and mitigation efforts on Earth.
An official from the Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology stated that China has successfully completed the first satellite launch of the year. This achievement also serves as a gift for the 50th anniversary of China’s space program.
He further revealed that this year, China plans to launch several communication satellites and scientific experiment satellites.
In recent years, China has continuously launched space exploration satellites. In 2003, China successfully conducted its first spacewalk.
