Created by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the six-legged robot has successfully completed several skiing tests at a ski slope in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, northeastern China, this month.
The machine resembles a dog, with four fixed legs for balance and two additional legs to hold the snowboard. During demonstrations, the robot glided down an 18-degree slope, 400 meters long, at speeds exceeding 10 m/s. It performed complex maneuvers such as accelerating, turning, planning routes, avoiding obstacles, and interacting with humans.

The research team from Shanghai Jiao Tong University has made breakthroughs in developing key algorithms for the robot, enabling it to analyze behaviors and mimic the movements of skiers.
In the future, with the support of advanced technologies such as 5G networks, scientists believe that remote-controlled robots could compete with humans in the same field.
In addition to showcasing technology, the robots will be used for patrolling and rescue operations on the mountains, helping to create a safe environment for skiers.
