Delta muscle atrophy is a disease currently attracting significant attention from the public; however, the important thing is that the cause of the disease has yet to be identified. There has been a research project at the Ministry and State level conducted by scientists on this condition. The causes of the disease are gradually being uncovered. But to reach a final conclusion, we still need to wait, while the number of cases in various provinces is steadily increasing.
At this time, the Central Pediatric Hospital receives nearly 200 suspected Delta muscle atrophy cases for examination each day. Additionally, on any given day, 8 patients suffering from Delta muscle atrophy undergo surgery. Yet, as of now, the list of patients registered for surgery extends all the way to December.
According to the latest reported data, 22 provinces across the country have reported cases of the disease, primarily in the northern provinces. Among the many hypotheses proposed regarding the causes of this condition, the Ministry-level research conducted by the Central Pediatric Hospital has indicated that vaccination has been ruled out as a cause.
If the cause of the disease were related to vaccinations, might we have overused injections in treatment, especially antibiotic injections into the Delta muscle region? This has yet to be specifically explained. However, it is noteworthy that Delta muscle atrophy has been present in Vietnam since the 1980s and 1990s.
