Google Earth Has Been Updated to Remove the Trace of the Underwater City of Atlantis.
The trace of this city on Google Earth was discovered in 2009 when internet users found a network on the ocean floor that resembled a legendary city. Google quickly explained that this trace was due to overlapping data, and the city of Atlantis has never been found. However, that map has remained available up to the present day.

For centuries, many have imagined Atlantis as a beautiful city, rich in cultural heritage and wealth, that was suddenly swallowed by the ocean.

The location of this city – or at least the origin of the imagined story – remains a mystery. Some believe it lies beneath the waters off Cornwall in England, while others think it is located under the Black Sea.

This week, Google announced the celebration of the 3rd anniversary of Google Earth and updated the tool to provide users with a “clearer view” of the terrestrial landscape.
The latest update of Google Earth offers more accurate images of many critical ocean areas, utilizing data collected by research vessels over the past three years.
This update is the result of collaboration between Google and the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the U.S. Navy, and several other agencies.
