The application of new technology in the construction of automatic traffic dividers will help complete the highway project valued at 11.808 trillion VND ahead of schedule.
On the construction site of package XL02 under the North-South highway project, specifically the Vân Phong-Nha Trang section, engineers and workers are implementing the traffic divider using equipment that significantly enhances labor productivity.
The machine currently being used on the Vân Phong – Nha Trang highway is the Power Curber 5700-D, manufactured in the United States, and it is the best-selling model worldwide.

This specialized machine is used to cast curbs and create rigid traffic dividers with a height of up to 1.5 meters on highways, national roads, provincial roads, urban roads, and industrial zones. It can also pave cement concrete (up to 2 meters wide on the side or up to 3 meters in the middle), create ditches, drainage channels, and many other functions.
The Power Curber 5700-D is described as a perfect combination of power and speed. The machine is compact, easy to maintain, and operates safely.

The machine operates under human control, “slowly” moving along the road and “spitting out” seamless concrete traffic dividers that not only achieve uniform quality with high aesthetic value but also save construction time and enhance productivity. With this machine, constructing highway traffic dividers has become simpler than ever.
From the Vân Phong – Nha Trang highway site, engineer Nguyễn Thanh Đông told the Government Electronic Newspaper: “The construction unit is applying new technology to automate the construction of traffic dividers, making it more cost-effective and safer with fully imported machinery.”
“Package XL02 has been implemented since February 2023, and we have already started constructing the traffic dividers to ensure traffic safety. During these days leading up to Tet and even during the Tet holiday, the construction site does not stop; Sơn Hải is organizing continuous work on-site, operating 3 shifts with over 700 workers working 24/7. It is expected that the package executed by Sơn Hải will be completed at least one year ahead of schedule,” engineer Nguyễn Thanh Đông reported.

The project component for the Vân Phong – Nha Trang section begins at (Km285+000), connecting to the southern entrance of the Cổ Mã tunnel, and ends at approximately Km368+350, connecting to the starting point of the Nha Trang – Cam Lâm component of the North-South East highway project phase 2017 – 2020.
The project has a total length of 83.35 km with a total investment of 11.808 trillion VND. It passes through four districts and towns of Khánh Hoà, including Vạn Ninh at 32.255 km, Ninh Hòa at 28.982 km, Diên Khánh at 14.88 km, and Khánh Vĩnh at 7.9 km.
The investment objective of the Vân Phong – Nha Trang component project is to meet transport demand, reduce the burden on National Route 1 and parallel routes, and gradually form a high-capacity, safe, and high-speed North-South highway.
The investment in this project also aims to facilitate the rapid formation and development of industrial and tourism zones along the route. At the same time, it aligns with the orientation and planning for transportation development, meeting the requirement for synchronized infrastructure construction to bring the country closer to becoming an industrialized nation in a modern direction.
