According to the consolidated data from the Animal Health Sub-Department of Ho Chi Minh City on February 1, from January 24 to 31 (the 24th of the last lunar month to the 3rd day of the Lunar New Year), facilities processed 251,632 birds of various types.
During the same period, over 56,000 birds were processed from other provinces to supply the market in Ho Chi Minh City for the Lunar New Year.
Thus, compared to the previous two Lunar New Years, this year Ho Chi Minh City has ensured both epidemiological safety and met the demand for poultry during the holiday.
Although no provinces or cities are currently experiencing outbreaks of avian influenza, the Animal Health Department believes there is a potential for a new outbreak this February.
The reason for this concern is the significant increase in the transportation of poultry and poultry products during the Lunar New Year period, along with many individuals establishing new flocks without reporting to the veterinary authorities for vaccinations and epidemiological monitoring.
