Many beautiful rural areas in Europe, America, and beyond are inviting foreigners to settle down by offering attractive housing and support packages, sometimes worth up to billions of Vietnamese Dong.
The decline in population and labor shortages are occurring in many developed countries worldwide. To address these issues, several rural regions in Ireland, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, and Spain are “rolling out the red carpet” to invite foreigners to settle, ready to provide support worth billions of Dong.
“This is a mutually beneficial partnership. Many people have the finances to start a new life in a completely foreign land. Meanwhile, the local economy gains additional workforce to drive development,” said Wayne Mills, a global migration issues expert from Seven Seas Worldwide. He also suggested several reasonable locations for those considering migration.
Ireland
This northwestern European country is offering housing and up to $87,000 (approximately 2.1 billion Dong) to individuals willing to move to one of its beautiful coastal islands, provided they commit to residing there for at least 10 years.
Wayne stated: “Ireland has 30 coastal islands with a total population of only about 3,000 people. The government is safeguarding the future of these beautiful islands by attracting a younger, new population. This program is open to everyone, especially targeting remote workers. If you are looking for a peaceful lifestyle yet still want modern conveniences like transportation, electricity, and internet, this is a great place to set up an office.”

Switzerland
For those under 45 who are not afraid of living in a small town, the village of Albinen in the Swiss Alps is a very suitable location. The local government is ready to provide $23,000 (approximately 575 million Dong) for each adult, plus an additional $11,500 (approximately 287 million Dong) for each child.
Immigrants must commit to living there for at least 10 years and pass strict tests. However, the end result is well worth it as Switzerland is known to be one of the safest and happiest countries in the world.
Living in the Swiss Alps is a dream experience for many.
Spain
The town of Ponga in northern Spain is offering $3,200 (80 million Dong) for each adult and child who moves here. This area specializes in wine production and is far from developed tourist spots. The fresh air and stunning mountain scenery make this town a wonderful place for nature lovers.
Greece
While many places in Greece are always packed with tourists year-round, the picturesque island of Antikythera is willing to pay $500 per month (approximately 12.5 million Dong) continuously for three years to anyone who moves there.
Wayne revealed: “Antikythera currently has only 45 permanent residents, making it a quiet and close-knit community. The authorities genuinely want to attract young families to enrich and bring youthful energy to the island.”
Italy
Calabria, a coastal region in Italy, is offering $30,000 (approximately 750 million Dong) to anyone willing to live in its small villages. The condition is that they must start a business or take on an essential job. Additionally, migrants must be under 40 years old and move within 90 days after acceptance.
“Calabria is located at the southwestern tip of Italy and is one of the sunniest, quietest, and most beautiful regions in the country. This is a perfect opportunity to enjoy a picturesque rural coastal lifestyle. Many other coastal areas like Lecce are also inviting migrants,” Wayne noted.

Japan
Buying real estate in Tokyo, Japan, is one of the most challenging tasks in the world; however, the Land of the Rising Sun has many towns facing serious aging populations. The country’s Regional Revitalization Program offers funding of up to $31,000 (775 million Dong) for those willing to move to these towns.
“Many young Japanese do not want the hassle of trying to find buyers for old homes in their hometowns. As a result, hundreds of traditional rural Japanese homes, which are spacious and beautifully designed, are left abandoned, which is a tremendous waste. This is a perfect opportunity to own a fantastic property and try a unique lifestyle,” Wayne added.
Canada
Saskatchewan is a rural area located in the southernmost part of Canada, with fields of bright yellow sunflowers stretching as far as the eye can see. The Canadian government is ready to pay $14,400 (360 million Dong) to those who commit to studying in Canada for four years before moving to this rural area for work. There is a shortage of young residents with skilled expertise in certain fields here.
