The University of Southern California (USA) has designed a type of robot that can crawl like a snake, bend into a wheel, walk like normal legs, and run like a tank.
Named SuperBot, this robot is engineered to adapt to various terrains and is flexible enough to operate in unpredictable environments.
“Today you might want to dig, tomorrow you might want to transport objects, and the day after you might want to explore deep craters at the south pole of the Moon. Our SuperBot can do all of these things,” said Associate Professor Wei-Min Shen, who is involved in the research, proudly.
Scientists hope that in the future, SuperBot will secure a spot on a spacecraft destined for exploration of the Moon and Mars.
