The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications has announced plans to establish a national data backup center for information technology to ensure the redundancy of national information systems and reduce costs.
This initiative is part of the national cybersecurity infrastructure development project under the National Key Program on Information Technology.
According to Mr. Hoang Quoc Lap, Director of the Department of Information Technology Applications, the Ministry has completed the pre-feasibility phase of six projects under the National Key Program on Information Technology for the period 2006-2010 and is now urgently conducting the feasibility study phase.
The projects in the program include: the development of a national information architecture; the establishment of national cybersecurity infrastructure; support for market and product development in information technology; the creation of a dedicated government information network; the development of public internet access and bringing internet services to rural areas; and training for managers and IT professionals.
It is expected that by June, the Ministry will complete the feasibility study phase for the six key projects mentioned above.
