Check the code to exchange the battery. |
Yesterday, the American computer corporation announced a recall of approximately 22,000 batteries used in its Latitude, Inspiron, and Precision notebook lines in the United States, along with another 13,000 units worldwide.
These batteries, sold independently as replacement products priced between $99 and $179, were manufactured in Japan and China between October 5, 2004, and October 13, 2005.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Dell recommend that customers stop using the products immediately until further guidance is provided. The company, based in Round Rock, Texas, has recorded three incidents of batteries overheating, damaging devices and causing minor injuries to users, but no fatalities have been reported.
Dell urges customers to contact the company and provide the battery code to determine whether it qualifies for a free replacement. Detailed information can be found on the company’s website.
Last year, Dell also recalled 4.4 million adapters for laptops worldwide.
