The e-Spider 4-Wheel Electric Vehicle Moves at a Speed of Only About 30 km/h but is Highly Maneuverable, Capable of Climbing Hills and Crossing Ditches.
The French company Swincar has developed a unique 4-wheel electric vehicle called the e-Spider, which is capable of navigating various terrains, as reported by New Atlas on February 21. This “spider car” now has two additional versions named e-Spider Tandem and e-Spider Mobility.
The e-Spider is equipped with a motor in each wheel and a suspension system that allows it to easily traverse uneven areas. Each wheel can lift much higher than the vehicle’s body, enabling it to cross ditches while the cabin remains stable.
The e-Spider does not move quickly. The original version has a power output of only 4 kW with a speed of about 30 km/h. However, it is very agile, capable of climbing slopes greater than 50% and adjusting the position of its wheels according to the terrain.
The e-Spider is equipped with a motor in each wheel.
The Tandem Version includes an additional seat for a passenger, a separate brake for the rear wheels, reinforced suspension, and a more powerful motor with an output of 6 kW. Meanwhile, the Mobility Version is designed for individuals with disabilities. This version features a reclining seat, safety belts, and the ability to rotate the vehicle’s joint legs 90 degrees to assist drivers in transferring from a wheelchair to the driver’s seat.
Swincar’s Vehicle Versions have been licensed for road use. In France, the vehicle is classified as an agricultural vehicle with a speed limit of 25 km/h on public roads. In other European countries, it is allowed to operate at speeds up to 45 km/h.
Swincar is expanding its global sales network, and the e-Spider is available in many locations across Europe, Turkey, Dubai, Kenya, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the United States. Some places also offer rentals for an experiential drive. The standard e-Spider is priced at $14,200, the Tandem is approximately $17,000, while the Mobility version can be priced based on specific requirements.
