On March 13th, Salesforce, the American software company that provides cloud-based customer relationship management tools, announced new data solutions and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions for healthcare professionals that can help alleviate the heavy administrative workload.

The first tool is “Einstein Copilot: Health Actions,” which assists doctors in scheduling appointments, summarizing patient information, and sending referrals. Salesforce stated that doctors can use this tool to manage patient records, including details such as prescriptions, clinical service requests, diagnoses, and tests. With AI summaries, doctors will no longer waste time searching for all this information separately.
Additionally, there is the Assessment Generation tool, which allows for the digitization of health assessments without the need for manual entry or coding.
Both features are built on the company’s Einstein 1 platform, which healthcare organizations can use to integrate health data from various sources such as insurance request systems and electronic health records.
Administrative tasks that require significant effort, such as submitting paperwork, pose a major issue for healthcare staff. According to a recent survey by Athenahealth, this is one of the leading causes of burnout among physicians. More than 90% of doctors reported feeling burned out “frequently”, and 64% expressed feeling overwhelmed by administrative demands.
The volume of clerical work is often complex because healthcare data is stored across multiple databases and formats, making it challenging and time-consuming for doctors to track essential information. Consequently, the consolidation of data across healthcare systems is opening up increasing opportunities for technology companies like Google, Amazon Web Services, and Salesforce.
Salesforce announced that the Assessment Generation tool will be widely launched this summer and the “Einstein Copilot: Health Actions” tool will be available by the end of this year.
