Researchers from the University of Arkansas (USA) have successfully converted chicken fat into biodiesel. Previously, biodiesel producers primarily used refined soybean oil as their main ingredient.
In their research, American scientists utilized high-quality chicken fat (containing less than 2% fatty acids) or low-quality chicken fat (which contains approximately 6% fatty acids). Each type of chicken fat undergoes different refining processes to produce biodiesel.
The cost of these two types of fat is lower than that of soybean oil, and according to chemical engineer R.E. Babcock, chicken fat oil is better for the environment and vehicle engines. He stated that it burns more efficiently, encounters fewer issues, and can perfectly lubricate components such as pistons and cylinders.
