On June 21, during the 6th International Conference on Neurology and Geriatrics (currently taking place in Pittsburgh, USA), Polish scientists announced the discovery of a hormone that plays a crucial role in longevity and health among the elderly.
This hormone is called “Adiponectin,” and its levels are significantly higher in individuals who live over 100 years.
These centenarians exhibit fewer symptoms of hypertension and other neurological diseases, and they also have lower levels of insulin and obesity hormones in their bodies compared to average individuals.
Adiponectin is also vital for neurological health, particularly in regulating cholesterol and blood sugar levels.
Individuals with low Adiponectin levels are at a higher risk of developing obesity, diabetes, and are more prone to plaque formation in blood vessels.
