On March 7, China announced the discovery of a massive ice cave near the “Three-Color Lake” in the Tibet Autonomous Region, located in the southwest of the country.

The cave features a stunning crescent shape and is situated in Banbar County, part of the Qamdo Prefecture, approximately 6 kilometers from the Puyu village committee. According to preliminary surveys, it measures 165 meters in length, 26 meters in width, and 15 meters in height, making it the largest ice cave in the Tibet Autonomous Region.
Another surprising aspect of this natural structure is that it can be accessed from both directions. There are very few super ice caves like this in the world. The middle section of the cave is very dark, so visitors need to bring flashlights to explore.
The scenery inside the cave features irregularly sized formations, but “everything is magnificent.” The ice appears like a crystal palace, and the ice on the rock walls sparkles under the sunlight, creating a dreamlike landscape.

This is one of the few mysterious “worlds of ice and snow” in Tibet, promising to become an ideal destination for nature enthusiasts. Outside the cave, there are snow-capped mountains, glaciers, and ice crevices soaring several dozen meters high.
Currently, this location can be accessed by hiking, horseback riding, and motorbiking.
