Dong Nai: Poultry Farming Still Exists in Residential Areas
On November 1, the price of live chickens in Dong Nai dropped to around 5,000 VND/kg, yet there are still no sources for consumption. Facing the risk of losses, many poultry farm owners expressed their willingness to cull their chickens if local authorities permit and provide supportive policies.
Currently, the total poultry and waterfowl population in Dong Nai exceeds 5 million, with approximately 3 million requiring vaccination (as of November 1, over 2 million have received their second vaccination).
In an interview with Tuoi Tre, an official from the Dong Nai Animal Health Department stated that they are focusing on vaccinating the poultry population and have not yet developed specific plans for controlling outbreaks if they occur. This official also mentioned that since the beginning of this year, Dong Nai has issued a directive prohibiting poultry farming in Bien Hoa City, towns, and concentrated residential areas. However, in practice, this ban has not been effective due to the lack of appropriate enforcement measures.
