Security experts have recently advised users not to be too eager to use Internet Explorer 7.0 Beta, as this new browser shows limited compatibility with popular security tools available today.
Experts indicate that many users have been unable to use Internet Explorer 7.0 to update common security applications such as McAfee Antivirus and ZoneAlarm. It appears that some compatibility issues exist within Internet Explorer 7.0 that have not yet been resolved, leading to the aforementioned “lack of cooperation.”
Graham Cluley, a senior technical advisor at Sophos, also cautioned against using any Beta software on computers dedicated to serious tasks, especially applications that are frequently used like web browsers: “Beta software always contains many unresolved bugs and tends to have compatibility issues with other applications. If users are looking for a browser that can replace Internet Explorer 6.0, they should consider using Firefox or Opera, which are continuously improved, rather than being overly trendy with Internet Explorer 7.0 Beta and potentially facing unintended consequences.”
Microsoft has promised that all of these compatibility issues will be addressed when the official version of Internet Explorer 7.0 is released.
