“Coffee is a complex compound, and more research is needed to explore its wonders,” researchers at Soochow University stated.
The demands of modern life often keep us seated at our desks for extended periods, engaging in mentally taxing work, which can lead to significant long-term health impacts.

A cup of coffee may be the solution to counteract this unhealthy lifestyle.
A study involving over 10,000 Americans found that daily coffee drinkers may be protected from the negative effects of sitting for 6 hours or more each day.
Compared to those who do not drink coffee and sit for similar durations, sedentary coffee drinkers have a 1.58 times lower risk of death from all causes over a 13-year period.
Researchers at Soochow University (China) noted that their study is the first to evaluate the health benefits of coffee in countering the increased mortality risk associated with prolonged sitting.
The research team discovered that drinking coffee essentially eliminates the link between a sedentary lifestyle, cardiovascular mortality, and mortality from all causes.
This is something that even regular exercise cannot fully protect against the long-term health harms of prolonged sitting, such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, or stroke.
Most participants in the study had a sedentary lifestyle and consumed coffee daily, benefiting from a reduced risk of death from cardiovascular disease due to this simple habit.
Particularly for those who drink more than 2.5 cups of coffee each day, the risk of death from all causes can be lower than that of non-coffee drinkers, even if they sit less than 6 hours.

Prior studies have also indicated that drinking coffee or providing caffeine in the bloodstream can reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.
Even decaffeinated coffee is beneficial for health due to its high antioxidant content, which may help boost metabolism and reduce inflammation.
Some compounds in coffee may also protect the brain from degenerative diseases, such as Parkinson’s disease.
In early 2024, a study showed that colorectal cancer patients who consume at least 5 cups of coffee daily have a 32% lower risk of disease recurrence compared to those who consume less than 2 cups each day.
Similar research also indicated that drinking 3 to 5 cups of coffee daily is associated with the greatest reduction in mortality from all causes.
However, this benefit diminishes if you consume more than 5 cups.
