Between 12:05 AM and 12:15 AM today, seismic tremors shook homes in Ho Chi Minh City, Phan Thiết (Bình Thuận), and Vũng Tàu. Many residents were frightened and rushed outdoors.
A security guard at the National University of Ho Chi Minh City dormitory in District 9 reported that shortly after midnight, two glass pieces in the security room suddenly clashed loudly, while Blocks A2 and A10 in the dormitory experienced shaking for several seconds. Many students hurriedly ran down from the upper floors.
Simultaneously, in Ward 4, Vũng Tàu City, a tremor lasting about 5-7 seconds occurred. “This earthquake was significantly stronger than the recent tremor at Front Beach. I was sleeping and felt the bed shake a few times,” recalled Mrs. Đoàn Thị Điềm from Ward 4, Vũng Tàu City. Mr. Trịnh Minh Hiền, a resident on Trương Công Định Street, also noted: “This earthquake was much stronger than previous ones; I have never felt vibrations like that before. The locals here are very worried and fear that a tsunami may occur.”
In Phan Thiết, the tremor also lasted for about 5 seconds around the same time. All residents in the city ran out into the streets and took a long time to feel safe enough to return home.
