Good news for chili lovers: regularly consuming a small amount of chili in daily meals can lead to deeper sleep and help prevent heart disease.
Researchers from the University of Tasmania, Australia, studied the benefits of chili on 10 volunteers over 18 months. Half of them consumed 15 grams of chili each day, while the other half avoided the spice altogether.
The results showed that chili helps improve sleep quality and consequently reduces factors that threaten cardiovascular health. According to the lead researcher, Dominic Geraghty, this phenomenon may be due to certain natural compounds found in chili that positively impact insulin levels and glucose, aiding in sleep regulation.
